ADHD Information

Is there a single cause of AD(H)D behaviours?

No. Many children and adults have problems with attention (Attentional Deficits) that affect their ability to function particularly in structured environments like work or school. But there is no plausible evidence of a single condition with a single underlying neurobiological cause.

Problems with inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity occur for a multitude of reasons. Poor diet, sight, hearing, physical, sexual or psychological abuse or trauma, sedentary lifestyle, neurotoxin exposure, underlying medical conditions and even boredom can lead to a child failing to pay attention and/or acting in a impulsive or hyperactive manner.
